The first confirmed bedrock discovery of gold in Nova Scotia occurred in September 1858. This discovery eventually sparked Canada's first gold rush in 1861. Over sixty gold producing districts were discovered, with most mining occurring over a sixty year period (1860 - 1920) with historical production in excess of 1.2 million ounces of gold.
The gold deposits are hosted by Cambro-Ordivician metamorphosed turbidites of the Meguma Group which underlay most of the Meguma Terrane (MT) of the Canadian Appalachians. The gold deposits are known as Meguma gold deposits (MGD) and two general deposit types occur: (1) quartz vein hosted mineralisation and (2) vein-poor or vein free mineralisation, which is also referred to as disseminated mineralisation.
Acadian holds a large portfolio of gold properties totalling approximately [34,000 hectares] in the Nova Scotia goldfields in Canada. Acadian is focused on exploring and developing its large portfolio of gold properties including 5 advanced stage properties; Beaver Dam, Fifteen Mile Stream, Forest Hill, Tangier, and Goldenville, all of which are 100% owned by Acadian. Each of these 5 properties hosts gold resources described in technical reports prepared by independent consultants in compliance with National Instrument 43-101 and are available on www.sedar.com.
Acadian properties are being explored and developed as prospective bulk-tonnage open pit deposits with stand alone processing facilities.
